I think Aidan needs to work on his comedic delivery. While “I farted” is comedy gold, it loses some luster when he wakes me up at 3 in the morning to deliver the punchline.

I apparently broke the gallery this morning. I’ll be trying to fix it later on after work. Yay.

I jailbroke and unlocked my iPhone a few weeks back after upgrading to 2.0 and I’m writing this from my phone, so excuse any weird spellings you may see. My efforts at writing my own iPhone apps have stalled for the time, but I have been digging the 2.0 apps that have come out. In particular Super Monkey Ball (which Amy rocks at), Jirbo Break and the Facebook app.
Aidan has really been chatting up a storm lately. His favorite words are “cars!”, “orange juice” and “nilk” (milk), “George” (curious george), and oddly “elephant”. What amazed us lately is that Saturday he was playing with Cohin and he grabbed a book that has numbers in it and started with page one and said “one”, turned the page, said “”two”, another page, “three”, another page, “four”, and then two pages and said “six”. So it seems he knows his numbers. So later that day I decided to see if he knew how to count. I said “one, two”, and then he said “three”, then I said “four” and he said “five” and I said “five” and he said “”six”. He also knows almost all his letters and we swear he can read. Sunday we were in Wal-Mart in the kids book sections and as usual he was pointing out all the Cars books and animals and Buzz Lightyears, but then we passed some sticker books and he said “stickers”. The only that made the sticker books look different was the fact they said stickers onthe front.
He’s also quite the comedian. His favorite joke to tell is “I farted” and then laugh hysterically. That’s my boy.

While the following may cause groans from some of you dear readers, I must espouse just how lucky I am since I think it bears saying. First off I’m lucky to have Amy. To put it simply, she’s awesome. She’s always there to listen to me bitch and moan about this or that, she keeps Aidan entertained and happy the majority of every single day, she keeps the house orderly (and me on the right track), she cooks damn good meals, and she’s put the ambitions she’s had on hiatus to do all of these things. She’s a damn fine woman and I’m lucky she chooses to keep me around every day. I’m lucky to have Aidan. He’s tied with Amy with being the best thing to happen to me. I couldn’t have asked for a better spawn. He’s happy (90% of the time), loves to have fun and joke and play, listens to us (90% of the time), and loves to spread the love. Truly I’ve been blessed to have these two great people in my life, but it doesn’t stop there. No. I have a great mom and dad. We’ve had rough times and they’ve put up with me making real bone-headed decisions (Colt 45 in the back seat anyone?), but if I could love half as much as my mom and be half as patient as my dad, I’d be kicking Mother Theresa to the curb (patiently and lovingly). And if that weren’t enough, my mother- an father-in-law always make time to give us a break from being parents, help us out with whatever we might need, and most importantly, feed me delicious meals. And last but not least, I have friends that have been there for me though the years, even when I’m an idiot. So to all of you, I raise my glass (which is currently filled with Boddington’s) and toast you. You are the people that make life worth living. Here’s to you.

I think everyone would agree that backing up your data is a good idea. And most people would probably also agree that having multiple backups stored in different locations (like you might put important documents in a safety deposit box as well as keep a copy at home) is also a good idea. But your backups are only as good as the last one you did and so let me tell you a little story about why probability always leaves room for anything to happen - Kinda like, while highly unlikely, there is a probabilistic chance you could get hit by a meteor after being attacked by a shark after being struck by lightening.

A lot has happened in the last week and a half. We had our 20 week checkup and got some new ultrasound pics and found out that…
It’s a boy!
And he wasn’t shy about showing it:
We’ll have pics up of the belly later on this week. Last week I was in San Francisco for Apple’s developer conference, WWDC, but on Saturday before I left, I was able to feel the baby kick for the first time. So that was awesome going away present.
As for the conference, it was really great going as a developer. I had been two years prior for the IT track and it was subpar at best, but the developer tracks (this year they had two: one for Macs and one for iPhones) were really good. I learned a ton and I hope to be able to crank out some apps here soon.
And starting yesterday we’ve gone on vacation in Door County, WI. We’ll have some pics and videos up from there soon as well.
